What’s New for 2026
Ah yes, the start of a new year - that magical moment when everyone on social media pretends they’ve got a five‑year plan, and I’m still trying to figure out where 2017 went. But it is a good time to look back at the site and the community we’ve kept alive since 2010. Maybe one day I’ll get my personal life organized with a five‑year plan, but today is clearly not that day. So here we are, a few weeks into 2026, ready to talk about the site, the updates, and all things Fossil.
What’s New and What’s Coming
Speedway Gallery: Progress is strong. I’ve identified 115 unique Speedway pieces, and about half are now live with more photos and descriptions on the way.
Site Upgrades: I’ve been refreshing the template, which finally improved the search function. With 16 years of content, it’s still not perfect, but it’s getting there.
Ads & Revenue: I’ve been using AI to clean up Google Ads and make them less intrusive (especially on mobile). The site remains non‑profit - ad revenue goes straight to hosting and maintenance.
Vintage Vibes & 2026 Energy
Earlier this year I saw some vintage‑themed Fossil posts on Instagram and immediately got all the 90s feels…..you know the tin boxes, quirky dials, leather that smelled like an actual store, and designs that felt like they came from a road trip, not a boardroom.
Then came the Dallas Morning News interview with CEO Franco Fogliato talking about leaning back into vintage and one‑of‑a‑kind designs for 2026. That’s the Fossil many of us grew up with — the one that felt creative, adventurous, and a little rebellious. If they’re really tapping back into that energy, I’m all in.
A Quick Look Back at 2025
No annual review is complete without a few misses:
Low Content Output: I didn’t post much in 2025, and traffic reflected that.
Full‑Price Strategy: I support Fossil’s move away from constant discounting, but it does make collecting (and reviewing) new pieces tougher.
Creator Program: The Creator Program reminded me that I’m basically a Fossil‑collecting dinosaur running a website instead of an influencer. I’m Gen X - I stick to Facebook for real conversations and community especially when it comes to collecting. Sixteen years of running a dedicated Fossil site should count for something… but apparently the algorithm disagrees.
Fossil Collectors Club: Fossil has removed any mention of the Fossil Collectors Club relaunched in 2019 from their site. Also the redirect from my old URL no longer works. Sad.
Looking Ahead
Maybe that explains the quiet year, but don’t worry — I’ve got archives, catalogs, and plenty of wonderfully weird pieces queued up for 2026. Think of it like finding a forgotten Fossil watch or tin in the back of your closet: you know it’s going to be good.
